Total vote around 1,800,000. Schricker won by around 12,000. Almost 150,000 new votes as compared to 1936s all high. Roosevelts vote only about 60,000 less than in 1936. Indiana stood by her native son, giving Willkie about 25,000 more votes than to Roosevelt. The Republican vote of 1940 was boosted over 1936 total by over 200,000 with Willkies vote. To U.S. Congress from Indiana our Bill Boehne with 3 other Democrats and 8 Republicans. While with Willis Republican Senator Indiana will have one of each, Van Nuys a Democrat still having his term to serve. 6th term. House. Angola Editor. Senate. And with our neighbors Illinois elected Green a Republican governor. Over the river Kentucky returns our friend Happy Chandler to the U.S. Senate. |
