Morrison, William vs. Honore Genie

Description: The file contains four documents related to the suit William Morrison brought against Honore Genie for the failure to pay off a debt. Two documents were summonses, one a complaint, and a Subpoena. A Summons was issued for Honore Genie to appear in Circuit Court the first Monday of March next to answer unto William Morrison on a plea of trespass to damages on a sum of one hundred dollars. It was witnessed and signed by Robert Buntin, Clerk, CCKC. On the verso Retble to March Term 1815. Come to hand 10 December 1814 not found in any Bailiwick. H. I Mills, DSKC. alias The second document was a Complaint filed in the Circuit Court March 1815. Honore Genie in custody of a plea of trespass where as on the thirtieth day of November 1814 in Vincennes was indebted to Morrison for forty-nine dollars and five cents for goods, and wares. Morrison had requested payment but had not been paid. The Complaint was filed by Johnston P.Q. On the verso, William Morrison put in his place Gen. W. Johnston his attorney against Honore Genie in an action of trespass. A second Summons was issued for the sheriff to take Honore Genie and keep so that he will appear before the judges in Circuit Court on the first Monday of June next to answer unto William Morrison in a plea of trespass and damages of the sum of one hundred dollars. The summons was witnessed and signed by Robert Buntin, Clerk CCKC the twentieth day of March 1815. On the verso, June Term 1815. Executed Benjamin Beckes Shiff KC March 20th. Service $.50; Return $.09; Total $.59. A Subpoena was issued for William McIntosh to appear in the Circuit Court the first Monday of March next to give evidence on behalf of Will. Morrison in a case of trespass. The Subpoena was issued and witnessed by Robert Buntin, Clerk on the 12th of February 1816. It was executed by B. Beckes, Shiff KC with Service and Return $.46 1/2. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas/ Circuit Court 1811-1817 page 237, March Term 1816, the Plaintiff appeared by Gen. W. Johnston his attorney and dismissed the cause. It was considered that the Defendant recover of the Plaintiff his cost and charges by him about the suit.
