To clothing and maintaining John Hamilton a pauper in Knox County one year commencing the first Monday in May 1809 and ending the first Monday in May 1810 both days included. $23.00 I do hereby certify that Charles Thorn is entitled to the sum of twenty-three dollars for boarding and maintaining John Hamilton a pauper in Knox County for one year as stated above. Given under my hand and seal the 28th Day of July 1810. the mark of John Huffman Overseer for the poor H:T According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas, 1807-1810 page 251 during the July Term the Sheriff was ordered to pay Charles Thorn twenty-three dollars for maintaining John Hamilton.
