The file contains one document filed November 30, 1808 by General W. Johnson for a ferry. General W. Johnston and Peter Jones put a bond of $100.00 to Parmentas Beckes, Sheriff as Treasure for the county. Johnson was obligated to that if he established a ferry across the East Branch of the White River at West fractional Section 32 Township 3 North Range 4 West, he would keep the ferry according to the law. He would give passage to all public messengers and express with out fee. The document was sealed and acknowledged in the Presence of Geo. F. Pope, Gen. W. Johnston and Peter Jones. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas, page 139, the bond was ordered filed. |
