Description: The sheriff is commanded to take into court Richard Phelon, Jacob Tevebaught and; ----Pride on the 3rd Monday, March 1807 to give evidence on the behalf of the U. S. against Etheldred T. Bass for larceny. They are not to leave town under the penalty of $100 each. Witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk, on 12 February 1807 and executed by P. Beckes, Sheriff at at cost of $3.61 1/2. A summons is issued for John Huffman and Peter Carrico to appear on the 3rd Monday, March 1807 to give evidence on behalf of the U. S. against Etheldred Bass on a charge of larceny. There will be a $100 penalty if they do not appear. The summons is dated 9 March 1807 and witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk at a cost to execute $1.80. A summons dated 16 March 1807 is issued for Eheldred Bass to come to court to answer to a charge of larceny for which he has been indicted. R Buntin is the clerk and H. Hurst is the attorney for the U.S. A summons for Mrs. Shields to come to court the 3rd Monday, March 1807 to testify against Bass is issued on 16 March 1807. The summons is signed by R. Buntin, Clerk. A notation on the back states not time to serve P. Beckes, Sheriff. A summons for George Wallace to testify on behalf of the U. S. against Etheldred Bass is issued. The summons was executed and returned by James Adams, Deputy Sheriff. Ehdred T. Bass acknowledges himself indebted to the U. S. in the sum of $100 and Jacob Tevebaugh the sum of $100 if they do not appear in court. The recognizance is dated November Term 1806. Henry Ruble acknowledges himself indebted in the sum of $100 he is to appear before the courts to give evidence 6 September 1806. Signed Henry Ruble, H. Hurst before George Wallace Jr. J. P. K. C. On the reverse Ethelred Bass acknowledge himself indebted to the U. S. $100. The recognizance is discharged Nov. 1806. During the November Term 1806 jurors for the U. S. hear testimony in Vincennes in the county of Knox that Etheldred Bass is accused of taking 4 yards of country made cotton cloth valued at $4 belonging to Henry Hurst. Jurors find not guilty per Anton Bell and Frederick Mail, Foreman.
