William McIntosh vs Christopher Wyant

Description: File contains the transcripts, summons, statements and warrants of William McIntosh vs Christopher Wyant. Wyant, the sheriff states that a prisoner, Aron Day escaped on the night of 11th September 1794. It was not owning to any negligence on the part of the said Sheriff but through insufficiency of a steeple which was put into one of the prison doors and the prisoner let himself out. William McIntosh impleaded of a debt of one hundred ninety-nine dollars and thirteen cents owed him by Wyant. Witnessed by Pierre Gamelin. The court reported that the debt was that of the county, not the Sheriff. McIntosh recovered a judgement against Wyant for the sum of two hundred and thirteen dollars and seventy cents plus two dollars and fifty-five cents for the court cost. A Writ of Error was issued by Judge John Cleves Symmes of Cincinnati, he referred the case to the Circuit Court.
