Description: |
Civil court case in which Thomas Chisley was suing Mary Adams for $50.00 damages. Chisleys wife, Sarah, had done washing and ironing for Adams equal to $51.00. Chisely had also purchased one yard Irish linen from Mrs. Small, that Adams was to make into an apron for Chisleys wife, for $1.00. By order of a Writ of Attachment, Sheriff William Prince was ordered to recover Adams property to satisfy judgment and to bring any persons possessing such property to court as garnishees. William Carruthers and Samuel Carruthers were named as garnishees. Items belonging to Adams recovered mentioned include one tract of land equaling 100 acres in Knox County, one iron kettle of 10 gallons, one duch (Dutch) oven, one small pot, and one small skillet. One item mentioned but not reported as recovered was a womans saddle. The jury found for the plaintiff for $12.00 damages with items to be sold to pay the judgment. The plaintiff paid the jurys costs. |
