Court transcript and a copy, written by Robert Buntin on the suit Truman Black brought against William M. Willson for failing to pay a debt of ninety dollars. February 20, 1817, Blackman sued for a writ of capias ad respondendum for William Willson to answer to a plea of debt of ninety dollars and damages of eighty dollars. The Writ was witnessed by Robert Buntin, Clerk. On the back of the writ This action is brought on a note under seal, therefore bail is required for ninety dollars. General W. Washington, attorney for Plaintiff. John Ewing was Special Bail. The writ was executed by Manassa Brown, Dep. Sheriff. March 17, 1817, the Plaintiff by his attorney, General Washington Johnston, filed his Declaration that the Defendant signed a Promissory Note, shown, on June 22, 1816 and promising to pay the Plaintiff ninety dollars. May Term 1817, the Plaintiff appeared with his attorney, after being called three times, the Defendant did not appear and was made Default. The Plaintiff by his attorney, made a motion that he recover ninety dollars with an interest rate of six percent per annum from June 22, 1816 and a sum of eighty dollars and sixty -eight and one half cents in damages. A writ of Execution, Firi Facias, for the sum of ninety dollars with interest and a sum of eighty dollars sixty-eight and one half cents in damages was witnessed by Robert Buntin on July 14, 1818. |
