Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Archibald W. Spain, dated July 1, 1886. Archibald first enlisted on May 22, 1864 as Assistant Surgeon in the 136th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was discharged in September (day omitted) 1864. Archibald re-enlisted on December 13, 1864 as Assistant Surgeon in the 80th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was discharged on June 22, 1865. Archibalds application was recommended by C.A. Power. Examining Committee members were Henry Winter, George E. Palmater, and M.C. Prater. Applicant Elected July 15, 188? and Mustered August 19, 1886. No. on Des. Book: 483. G.W.
