Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Benjamin P. Runkle, dated 188?. Benjamin first enlisted April 16, 1861 as Captain in Company C 13th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on August 19, 1862 of the 40th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 19, 1864. Benjamin was discharged as Colonel on July 21, 1864 and served in the U.S. Volunteer Veteran Reserves until September (day omitted) 1866. Benjamins application was recommended by William H. Armstrong. Examining Committee members were James F. Murphy and John F. OReilly. Applicant Elected, Mustered, Number on Des. Book, Adjutant, and Post Commander information omitted.
