Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of William P. Mahan, dated April 19, 1906. William first enlisted on October 30, 1861 as a Private in Company E 43rd Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged as a Sergeant (date omitted). William re-enlisted on November 4, 1864 as a Private in the 1st Missouri Light Artillery and was discharged on June 25, 1865. Williams application was recommended by Lawrence Burget. Examining Committee members were Carl. Krietenstein, Cyrus Knapp, and Oscar Hammond. Applicant Elected May 3, 1906 and Mustered May 17, 1906. No. on Des. Book: 791. J.S. Neely, Adjutant; Hiram Steele, Post Commander.
