Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Alf C. Lovejoy, date omitted. Alf enlisted on May 25, 1861 as a Private in Company H 14th Regiment of the Illinois Volunteers and was transferred to the 2nd Illinois Artillery Battery B as a 2nd Master Sergeant on May 25, 1864. Alf was commissioned on July 22, 1864 as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company B 2nd Regiment of the Illinois Artillery and was discharged on July 15, 1865. Alfs application was recommended by Levi D. Creech. Examining Committee members were H.W. McLean and C. Krietenstein. Applicant Elected, Mustered, Number on Des. Book, Adjutant, and Post Commander information omitted. NOTE: First name is likely Alfred.
