Joseph Dimmit Thompson letter, December 31, 1861-January 1, 1862

Description: A typescript of a letter written by Joseph Dimmit Thompson to his wife Mary Thompson, December 31, 1861-January 1, 1862. Thompson writes Mary Thompson to report on the boredom of camp on New Years day. He is suffering from shingles and is tired of mud soaked camping. Col. Looney kept the regiment that Thompson is in from going to the battle field without guns to fight the Union with.
