Description: |
Taking us back nearly three years before the fire, this diorama shows a ravine near Providence Convent, on the right, which has been drained and filled for the laying of a foundation. In the foreground, Mother Euphrasie and her assistant, Sister Mary Cleophas, discuss plans with the architect for the Present Church of the Immaculate ConceptionIn the years that have passed since Sisters of Providence first walked these woods, their legacy of faith endures, in great measure to the love, courage and commitment of the foundress, Mother Theodore Guerin. Her scriptural epitaph, is also a promise:I sleep, but my heart watches over this house, which I have built. |
