Holland began his career with Detroit Edison Company in 1966 afterearning the bachelor of science and master of science degrees in electrical engineeringfrom Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.He was senior vice president of energy marketing and distribution with DetroitEdison before joining Ohio Edison Company in 1991 as president and chief operatingofficer. He is currently president, chief executive officer and a member of the board ofdirectors of Ohio Edison Company. Holland also serves as chairman of the board andchief executive officer of Edisons subsidiary, Pennsylvania Power Company.Holland is on the board of directors of the Edison Electric Institute and of theAssociation of Edison Illuminating Companies.He has been active in volunteer leadership posts for civic and professionalorganizations such as the Akron Childrens Hospital Medical Center, the MetropolitanAffairs Corporation of Detroit, the Akron Art Museum, the Boy Scouts of America and theOhio Business Roundtable.Doctor of Humane LettersJohn T. MyersMember, United StatesHouse of RepresentativesIndiana 7th Congressional DistrictWashington, D. C.John T. Myers has had a distinguished 30-year career in public service as theRepublican congressman representing Indianas 7th Congressional District which includesTerre Haute.He is currently the third most senior Republican in the House of Representativesand is the senior member of the Indiana Republican congressional delegation. In previoussessions of Congress, Myers has served as the top Republican on the House EthicsCommittee and the Post Office and Civil Service Committee.Myers has been a member of the Appropriations Committee since 1970. He nowserves in the important leadership role of chairman of the Energy and Water DevelopmentSubcommittee of the Appropriations Committee.In addition, he is a member of two other appropriation subcommittees. As amember of the Agriculture Subcommittee, Myers had an important role in thedevelopment of the 1995 farm bill. He also serves on the Military ConstructionSubcommittee which oversees funding to military installations worldwide.Doctor of EngineeringNiles L. NoblittChairman, Board of DirectorsBiomet, IncorporatedWarsaw, IndianaNiles L. Noblitt is the co-founder of an international company that designs,manufactures and markets surgical implants, orthopedic-support devices, and varioushospital supply products.Noblitt graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1973 with abachelor of science degree in biological engineering. He has been a member of theRose-Hulman Board of Managers, the governing body for the college, since 1988. Hereceived the Rose-Hulman Distinguished Young Alumnus Award in 1983.His current activities with Biomet include business development, strategicplanning, mergers and acquistions. He has been chairman since 1986. Noblitt has alsoserved as president of Electro-Biology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Biomet.His early career with Biomet included the position of executive vice presidentduring which he was responsible for North American operations includingmanufacturing, marketing, sales, research and development, quality assurance andregulatory affairs. He has also served as vice president, technical affairs for thecompany.Doctor of EngineeringRichard H. RaabRetired President, Interface Associates Inc.Baltimore, MarylandRichard H. Raab has served as the president of an international export tradingand consulting company, and as a vice president of the Roper Corporation.After graduating from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1943 with abachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, Raab worked for a short timeat General Motors before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After hismilitary service, he worked as regional sales manager for a distributor of UnitedStates Gypsum Co.In 1958, he joined the Roper Corp. and served as vice president and managerof its Architectural Products Division. Eight years later, he initiated a venture thatresulted in the creation of a Roper European subsidiary that jointly owned a fabricatedmetal and electrical commercial building products company. He was named presidentof the subsidiary which had offices throughout Europe, England and Scandinavia.He left the Roper Corp. in 1978 to establish Interface Associates, an exporttrading and consulting company that did business in Europe, the Middle East, WestAfrica, Latin America and South America.Doctor of EngineeringWilliam R. SmallVice President, Westvaco Corporationand General Manager ofWestvacos Consumer Packaging DivisionRichmond, VirginiaWilliam R. Small began his career with Westvaco in 1957 after earning abachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute ofTechnology. His first engineering job was in the companys Technical ServicesDepartment at the Covington (Va.) Mill of the Bleached Board Division.During a series of promotions, Small served as assistant superintendent of theRecovery Department, superintendent of sheet finishing, plant manager, and latergeneral manager at the companys Folding Carton Division plant.Small was elected vice president of the company in 1990. Four years later hewas named assistant manager of the Bleached Board Division. Earlier this year, heassumed his current post.The Consumer Packaging Division utilizes state-of-the-art printing andconverting technology at seven plants to serve the packaging needs for food,cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other consumer products in the UnitedStates and around the world.Doctor of EngineeringRandall L. TobiasChairman of the Boardand Chief Executive OfficerEli Lilly and CompanyIndianapolis, IndianaRandall L. Tobias was named to the position of chairman of the board andchief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Company in 1993.He had previously been with American Telephone and Telegraph Company(AT&T) since 1964 and had been vice chairman of the board of AT&T since 1986.An Indiana native, Tobias graduated from Indiana University in 1964. He hasbeen honored by Indiana University which presented him with its DistinguishedAlumni Award. Tobias has also been awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree byGallaudet University in Washington, D.C.Tobias is vice chairman of the board of trustees of Duke University and atrustee of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.He is also a director of the Phillips Petroleum Company, Kimberly-ClarkCorporation and Knight-Ridder, Inc.
