Parke County service honor roll north face.

Description: This is a black and white photograph of the Parke County Service Honor Roll which stood on the northeast corner of the courthouse yard. Designed by local artist Herman Davis and built by Walter Clark, it was a four-sided wooded structure topped by a wooden obelisk. Its north face featured an eagle with outstretched wings atop a red, white and blue shield with Roll of Honor inscribed on a banner. On each of the four panels were the names of those from Parke County serving in the armed forces during World War II. Space was designed to hold between 1600 and 2000 names. Over $800.00 were raised in donations by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #748 who sponsored the memorial. It was dedicated in July 1943 with rites performed by the VFW and Homer Capehart of the Packard Manufacturing Company of Indianapolis as guest speaker. This item was donated to the library by John Morris.
