This is a color photograph of the Ferris wheel at Billie Creek Village during the Covered Bridge Festival in 1993. The exhibit was part of the centennial celebration of the Ferris wheel; the first being built by George Washington Ferris Jr. for the Chicagos Worlds Fair. The open gondola Giant Ferris Wheel stood 100 feet tall, weighed over 100 tons and could hold 120 adults or 160 children. It operated all ten days of the festival and cost $2.00 a ride. This item was donated by Charles Davis. |
