This is a black and white photograph of what is possibly a church meeting in Greene or Union Township in Parke County, Indiana. A large gathering of people of various ages sit or stand next to a wooden frame structure. In the background the land lifts into a slight rise. The men are generally in dark suits with hats ranging from derbies to broad brimmed hats as well as caps. Some are clean shaven while others sport beards or mustaches. The women are wearing either dark dresses or blouses and dark skirts but two women on the far left are in long coats. The children sit in front of the gathering. The photograph is mounted on black matting. This item was donated by the Don McCue family. |
