Mens ward Indiana state sanatorium Rockville, Indiana.

Description: This is a black and white photograph of the east ward of the Indiana State Tuberculosis Hospital which was 3 miles east of Rockville, Parke County, Indiana. Two pavilions were built on either side of the administration building in 1910; one for men (East Ward) and one for women (West Ward). Both buildings featured porches that ran the length of the building to maximize exposure to fresh air which was considered crucial to the treatment of tuberculosis. Both wooden frame wards were torn down in 1961. This item was donated by the Don McCue family.
