This is a black and white postcard showing the north side of the public square in Rockville, Parke County, Indiana looking east along Ohio Street (US 36). To the left is the Rockville National Bank. The next building is the Odd Fellows Hall, the first floor of which was then occupied by a clothing store. Tad Johnsons store was next. On the corner of Ohio and Jefferson streets can be seen the Masonic Building which was the original Rockville Opera House. At the far right can be glimpsed the top of the Gaebler building which was later moved to Billie Creek Village. On the street in front of a store is a parked automobile and street lamps consisting of three prongs with globes are spaced along the block. This item was donated by Perry Neet. |
