This is a black and white photograph of Louis DeVoto and wife Jane. Louis (1849-1911) was born Louisiana the son of Joseph and Catherine Botto DeVoto who emigrated from Genoa, Italy arriving in the United States on 1849-02-14. On 1876-11-27, Louis married Jane Magnant (1858-1956), the daughter of Nelson and Josephine Hotley Magnant in Lanse, Baraga County, Michigan. He moved the family from Chicago to Parke County where he was superintendent of the Mansfield Rock Quarry for 15 years. In the 1900 census, the family is living in Jackson Township, Parke County where Louis is listed as a stone mason/ stone cutter. This item was donated by the family of Pauline McKinney. |
