A team photograph of the Blanford Cubs baseball team in 1928. Margaret Gisolo, the only girl on the team, is in the back row second from the left. After the Cubs won district championship against Clinton, the Clinton team claimed the win was invalid because Blanford had a girl on their team. The decision on the claim went to Kenesaw M. Landis, the Commissioner of Organized Ball, and he ruled the win valid. The Cubs won the state championship in 1928. After this year the rules were changed so that only boys could play. |
