Portrait of the Rev. F.D. Blake (1871-1929). He was a native of Terre Haute, Indiana and taught for 37 years in segregated elementary and middle schools in Terre Haute, and was the former principal of Dunbar School of that city. He was also on the staff of the Terre Haute Star and Terre Haute Express for which he wrote editorials for 30 years. Active in fraternal and religious circles, Blake served as a former master of Prince Hall Lodge No. 16, Free Masons, in Terre Haute, and was a leader in the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. |
