Description: The probate record for Jacob Warrick, 1811 is in Box 3 of the probate records archive at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House. On the inventory sheet the following slaves were listed with their prices for purchase at the sale: 1 negro man “Peter” $200.00, 1 negro woman “Sucky” $120.00, Boys, “Ben and Charles” $200.00, Lewis, $250.00; Moses, $170.00 and girl Becky, $100.00. On the sale bill is listed the purchasers and the amounts each paid: Augustus Tuga (Tougaw, Tougas) negro woman and young child $402; John Warrick, 1 negro boy $104; Augustus Tuga, 1 negro man, $402; Jane Warrick, 1 negro girl, $250.00; David Robb, 1 negro boy, $330.00; David Robb, 1 negro boy, $299.99. In Warrick’s will the said “My negroes to be sold and the money laid out in land for my children”.
