Will record for Jonathon Lathom, 1809

Description: The following text is found on pages 19-21 in Will Book A, a record of wills filed in Knox County, Indiana from 1806-1852. The book is held at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House.“Jonathan Lathom to have Barshar Plow & hoe, my servant Jacob to serve the five children one year a piece beginning with my oldest son (William) Lathom, the first year and so on to the next oldest till the last is served, and if said Jacob is not willing (to?) serve with any of them that in that case they shall hire him out, and them that don’t see cause to keep him may have the same privileges, after five years is out, my servant Jacob go free.”
