Knox County probate record for Sterett McClellan, 1846

Description:	A folder containing probate records for Sterett McClellan is housed in the Probate Records section, Box 42, at the Knox County (IN) Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House. A hand-written renunciation from Phebe Ann McClellan and dated January 3, 1847 cedes administration to Joseph Wolfe. This file also contains a summons, bond, an inventory and accompanying bill of sale and affidavits. A Knox County Probate Court document for the November 1946 term refers to a guardian of an Elizabeth A. McClellan. A receipt for school tuition filed June 13, 1848, references Nancy Jane McClellan and suggests that Joseph Wilson may have acted in some capacity as guardian. Also included in this file but not pictured are numerous bills, receipts and affidavits, some of which appear to be related to building of a home.
