Knox County probate record for George W. Ewing, 1838

Description: A folder of probate records for George W. Ewing is housed in Box 25 of the Knox County probate records section at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House. This folder contains the will of George W. Ewing dated October 4, 1838. In the will he names his wife, Grace H. Ewing and his daughter Elizabeth Ewing as his heirs. He names his brother James Ewing as receiving the family farm, and he leaves other items to his sister Rachel’s children Mary Tucker, Hamil Tucker, and Caroline. He also bequeaths to George Ewing Law son of John and Sarah Law a parcel of land. Executors of George W. Ewing’s estate were John Law, Abner T. Ellis and John Ross. The file also contains, bills, receipts, summons, an inventory of the estate, sales of the estate and a newspaper advertisement.
