Knox County probate record for G.W. Johnston (1 of 2), 1835

Description:	Two folders of probate records for G. W. Johnston are housed in Box 17 of the Knox County probate records section at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady Brockman House. This folder (folder 1) contains a hand-written document dated on August 15, 1835 naming Abner Ellis as administrator. A bond filed on November 16, 1833 names Abner Ellis and Benjamin Johnston as administrators. Also included are an inventory of the estate and accompanying sale bill. A list of items claimed by the widow at appraised value and a schedule of credits. There are also newspaper clippings suggesting insolvency and a schedule of probate court expenses.
