Freedom Train stops besides George Rogers Clark Memorial in Vincennes, Indiana

Description: Black and white photo of George Rogers Clark Memorial grounds in Vincennes, Indiana, along the Wabash River, when Freedom Train stopped on July 24, 1948. Just visible is long line of people waiting to get on the Train. They are standing along the sea (retaining) wall of the river, going outside of the frame of the photo. Train was sent across the country to encourage patriotism. Crowds of people also mill around the steps of the Memorial and its grounds. Memorial is dressed up with bunting, assuming it to be red, white and blue, as the Train must be. Taken from the high point of the Lincoln Memorial Bridge.
