A letter from George Gegner to his future wife, Lizzie Wayman, dated November 13, 1864. Gegner was stationed in Johnsonville, Tennessee at the time he wrote the letter. In the letter, George describes their trip from Resaca to Johnsonville, Tennessee and said that the ride in the train cars was very crowded and uncomfortable. He also told Lizzie there was a fight but he wouldnt give her the details because she had probably read about the fight in the newspaper. George also wrote about the re-election of President Abraham Lincoln and how he and the men in his Regiment celebrated. He also told her how their friend John was doing and that being a soldier agrees with them all. |
