Description: ten thousand volumes were collected,more than double the number of thefirst period, and during the last fifteenyears forty thousand volumes havebeen added to these, making a presenttotal of fifty thousand volumes. Inother words, the average yearly increase during the first period was twohundred and seventy-five volumes, inthe second period five hundred andninety, and during the recent periodtwenty-seven hundred volumes havebeen annually added to the collection.These figures show the tendency ofthe library to increase in a geometricalratio and the consequent necessity ofproviding liberal storage room in thenew building.
