Hilda Hathaway, secretary, and George Cromwell, treasurer.The annual inter-society debate was held February thirteenth on the question: Has thepresent Democratic administration justified its election? The Daedalian debating teamcomposed of Richard R. Sigler, J. Freeman Pyle, and H. D. Byrne, supporting the negativeside of the question, defeated the Ciceronian debating team, consisting of William Frushour,Everett E. Rasor and Oliver R. Nees by a vote of two to one.On April twenty-third our Affirmative debating team, composed of Messrs. J. R. Shannon,William Fitzgerald and C. E. Riehl met the Oshkosh Negative team, composed of John F.Kuehnl, Jesse R! Gruemisen and Lester W. Conger, on the same question, and was successfulin defeating it by a vote of two to one.The audience was also entertained during the evening with some excellent musical selections.The Negative team consisting of the Messrs. J. Freeman Pyle, Everett E. Rasor, and BertLeech were defeated at Normal, Illinois, by the Normal Affirmative team consisting of AliceGasaway, Robert Grubb and Earl Case. The judges were: Professor George Buck of Indianapolis, Indiana
Professor S. E. Thomas, Charleston, Illinois, and Professor JohnBarnes, Cedar Falls, Iowa.The League has had a very successful year. In debating we have managed to maintainour former high standard and in financial matters we have excelled the record of previousyears. For the first time in the history of the League, the debaters upon the state debatingteams, received the recognition due them. Each debater was presented with a pretty watchfob by President Parsons.
