252THE NORMAL ADVANCEATHLETICSIndiana State Normal athletics are takingtheir normal spring term course. The variousteams began in April with little talent and poorprospects. After a series of foreseen defeatsthe heterogeneous units of the organizationshave gradually consolidated into proper arrangement and during the last part of the termsupporters of Normal athletic fortunes canrest assured of even chances for victory. It isunfortunate that the organization of the schoolis such that the teams of the spring season geta late start, but since it is an unavoidable fact, nothing remains but to accept the conditionsand make the best of the last part of the term.Somewhere there is an old adage that alls wellthat ends well. Cheer up, the best is yet tocome. The baseball nine faced an unusually emphasized case of Normal conditions thisspring. But one old man was on hand at thestart. Captain Skeeter is to be praised forstanding by the youngsters under trying conditions. New additions to the nine have nowmade it a formidable opponent to any of Indianas college teams. For the first time in the season Normal had afull team on the field May 6 when she facedFranklin. The game was close and an unfortunate error in the eighth inning was responsible for the defeat of the local team by thescore of 3 to 1. Following are the results asseen in the score book:Normal.
