82THE NORMAL ADVANCEJUNIORS.Although the number of Juniors in schoolis small when compared Avith the numbers ofthe other classes, they are very much alive andkeep the pot boiling all the time.On Friday night, November 20, in the association rooms Avas given the first social of theyear. As the guests entered they were eachgiven a piece of paper with a name, whichidentified them Avith some family. After thehead of each family had assembled all themembers, he led them to the dining room,where a picnic supper was served.After supper Miss Lois Shirley entertainedthe class with some A^ocal selections and washeartily encored. The remainder of the evening Avas spent in games and fortune hunting,which proved a highly interesting sport.In athletics, too, the Juniors are proAringtheir prowess. The inter-class games startedwith the Juniors considered entirely outside themoney. The first game Avas lost to the NormalSophs, but it proved that the Juniors werefighters and that they were going to fight forevery game. Then came the haughty Seniors,conquerers of the Sophs. It was a good fight,but was the Seniors Waterloo. The fightingspirit of the Juniors showed itself in the lasthalf and the final count showed them to possessthe long end of the score. Then came the Infants of the College. Small men, but clever, afoe to be respected. Again it was the fightingspirit of the Juniors Avhich Avon and Avithoutthe services of Captain Mark, the star center,the scalp of the husky babes Avas taken andhangs airing before the lodge of the Juniors.The game remaining Avas played and then themantle of championship rested on the huskyshoulders of the Junior athletes. The scorewas 28 to 23.SOPHOMORES.The Sophomores held their third businessmeeting, November the eleventh, and electedEugene Monroe as yell leader Mr. J. Clayton,Miss Marjorie Botts and Miss Ruth Miller asyell composers Miss Stephens, Miss Botts andMr. Burnett as members of the entertainmentcommittee Miss Inez Graves, Miss Irene Applegate and Mr. Schopmeyer as members of thedecorating committee.A motion was made and carried to haA^e aclass party to be held in the girls gymnasiumon the evening of November twenty.On the evening of November twenty aboutone hundred and tAventy-five of us Avith ourguests assembled in the girls gym, Avith MissAnna Cox, Mr. Schockel and Mr. Breitweiseras chaperons to see that there was no dancing.The evenings program was started by theplaying of several familiar games.Partners were chosen for the delicious luncheon which.consisted of fruit jello and nabiscos.The punch bowl was the most popular dish, enjoyed mostly by a little curly headed collegeSoph boy.After playing more games and being entertained by some of our talented musicians Avedispersed, Avishing for the next party time tocome.The Sophomores have an undisputed goodshowdng for the inter-class championship.
