There were twelve guests.A progressive party was one of the most delightful affairs of the rush season, of theKappa Kappas. The first course was enjoyedat the home of Miss Gertrude Leonard. Thehouse was beautifully decorated in lavenderand white. Large bouquets of autumn leavesand flowers adorned the tables. After changing partners the guests assembled at the homeof Miss Hazel Kiefner where the second courseas enjoyed. The third course was enjoyed atMiss Katherine Walshs, where the remainderof the evening was spent in music and dancing.There were thirty-six guests.After a very delightful and successful rushseason, the Kappa Kappa sorority held theirinitiation at the home of Miss Margaret Ellis.The entire house was decorated in lavender andwhite streamers, and flowers. After initiationa three course supper was enjoyed. The newmembers are Miss Mildred Hanley, NaomiCoffey, Eileen Holler, Margaret Brubeck, RuthBryon, Marjory Botts, Faye Slinkard, EthelKisner, Helen Larison. The old memberspresent were, Gertrude Leonard, Edna Glick,Helen Jones, Gladys McClung, Doris Drake,Loretta Kelley, Marguerite Dunkin, GenevaSmock, Florence Hewit, Ethel Freiz, HeleneCasey, Sue Hess, Margaret Dunkin, HazelKiefner, and Doyne Koontz.THE LLAMARADAS.The Llamaradas gave a party at the prettycountry home of Miss Harriett Woolen on theevening of Oct. 24. The dining room wasdecorated with cats, witches and pumpkins,suggestive of Halloween. A delightful lunchwas served. After luncheon the girls gatheredaround the open fire in the living room andtold stories and planned for some good timesfor the section during the remainder of thefall term.One of the most enjoyable affairs of the termwas a Halloween party at the home of MissGertrude McComb, 1410 South Third street, onOct. 13. The early part of the evening wasspent in music and story telling. At 10:00oclock the guests were seated in the diningroom. The place cards were hand painted andthe names of the guests were written backward. On the opposite side of the card was averse, which told where the fortune of eachperson was hidden in the house. Lighted greencandles were placed on each plate and over theflame marshmallows were toasted. The lunchconsisted of ham, and pimento cheese sand-witches, pickles, pumpkin pie, doughnuts,apples, marshmallows and coffee. After supperthe guests began a search for their fortunes.Many of them were surprised at the strangethings Dame Fortune had in store for them.Miss Ocie Brown of Clay City, was an out-of-town guest.An initiation and party was held at the homeof Miss Gertrude Steepleton, 2233 Fifth avenue. After initiation a delightful lunch wasserved.MU ZETA.Although the Mu Zeta Sorority had a veryfew members to begin their work this term,they have all gone to work to build it back toits usual standard, and a little higher this willnot be easy, for it has long been kept up bygood students. The initiation was held lastSaturday evening at the home of MargueriteDebs. The pledges came prepared, so everyone enjoyed the evening. Later lunch wasserved in a beautifully decorated dining-room.Dainty Halloween souvenirs were received,Pretty butterfly place-cards were sitting on thehandle of each Halloween basket. The Pledgesare: Mary Howard, Grace Campbell and Cris-teine Andrick. They were each given a bouquet,of carnations, and they went home happy. |
