22THE NORMAL ADVANCEthan that meeting indicates, Im afraid that allour good intentions will fall in the well.Miss Eustacia Kenyon was one of the estimable young ladies present at the meeting. MissKenyon is the sister of a former Rhodes scholarat Oxford, who came home last year, havingfinished his three years. From hearing herbrother talk, Miss Kenyon knows more aboutOxford in general, and Balliol College in particular in an hour, than the average personknows in a week. This is her first year at I. S.N., and she told her room-mate the followingstory of the meeting, which with her, as withPercy Somesport, was a new experience: Oh,the officers elected were very good, and the business was put through in fairly good shape, butyou know, I was disappointed. There is sucha beautiful chance here to develop a spirit likethe Oxford spirit, a big school spirit, and thenwhat corresponds to the college spirit at Oxford—which here would be the College CourseSpirit, and the Normal Course Spirit. Ill tellyou, girlie, I really was expecting to find this, but when only about 30 came to the meetingout of over 100,1 was terribly disappointed. Ifthey would all take an interest in CollegeCourse affairs, and the Normal course peopledo likewise, think how lovely that would be! Itwould be just like Oxford. We decided to havecollege course meetings on alternative Fridaynights, beginning Friday, October 18, and towork to carry everything before us in the wayof athletics, and I think that will be perfectlydelightful, much like the social affairs and theathletic contests at Oxford. But oh dear! Ifno more interest will be taken in them by th§.college course students than was taken by themin the meeting this afternoon, Im afraid theywont amount to much.Dearly beloved brethren and sisters in thecollege course, a word to the wise is sufficient.Whether you are wise or not will be shown byhow much interest you will take in collegecourse matters hereafter. The words of yeeditor are ended, for this month, anyway.COLLEGE COURSE HALLOWEENPARTY.Not being enabled to be present, and not having sufficient time to prepare an elaborate report from hearsay, we can only give a short account of the delightful college course meetingon the night of Friday, October 18. In honorof the approach of Halloween, pumpkins decorated the womens gymnasium, where the meeting was held, and games, contests and socialpleasures amply served the purpose of makingthe hours pass merrily. A goodly concoursewas present, and the only regret of those present was that more were not permitted to sharetheir joy. Society is half of college life, andcollege course students are urged to bear thisin mind whenever the time for a college coursemeeting rolls around, and when this time arrives will be made manifest to you by a placardon the bulletin board. Only watch and wait.SENIOR NOTES.On October 9 the Senior class met for theelection of officers. The following Seniors wereselected to pilot the class for the three shortmonths of the fall term: Mr. Ralph H. Smith, president Mr. Charles Fowler, vice-president Miss Zinck, secretary Mr. Wilson, treasurer Miss Pescheck, class artist Archie Fishback, athletic manager Mr. Oscar Haney, class editor Mr. Haney and Miss Norris, representatives to Oratorical League. The Senior class this year is starting out tobecome the greatest Senior class in years. Theusual scrappy spirit was evident in the firstmeeting, which, if it grows, will develop into agreat Cap and GowTn fight in the spring.Seniors, you are urged to pull together andhelp make this the greatest class that has evergone out from I S.
