Miss NellieWolfe was chosen leader to fill the vacancymade by Miss Margaret Yunkers resignation.Other officers elected were Miss Rosa Christy,vice-president
Miss Freda Rosenmund, secretary, and Miss Effie McCoun, treasurer.The Beta Section has drawn up a new constitution, which has been inspected and approved by Miss Erickson. By this means theSection hopes to make its organization perman-• ent and worth while.The members of the Section wish to expresstheir thanks to their former president, MissYunker, for her loyalty, and efforts in behalfof the Section during the fall and winter terms.On Saturday evening, April 17, the Betas entertained guests at dinner at the City Y. W. C.A. The Misses Christy, Hufty and Wilsonwere hostesses. Among the most enjoyablefeatures of the evening were the vocal solosrendered by Miss Orpha Smith of DePauw, whowas visiting her cousin, Miss Rosa Christy.The term initiation was held with the MissesMcCoun and Holly at 1102 North Fourth street.Those who were initated into the mysteries ofBetaism were the Misses Ethel Scott, GraceDeLay, Lillian Munday and Mary Hart. Whenthese had become full-fledged Betas, all wereinvited into the dining room. Seated about thetable, which wras decorated with the Sectioncolors and lighted with candles, they enjoyed amarshmallow toast and home-made candies.Former members who have returned to schoolthis term, and renewed their membership arethe Misses Eleanor Puckett, Maude Williams,Freda and Ellen Rosenmund.CANDIDA.The first meeting of the spring term for theCandida Section was held at the home of MissGrace Lowe, Saturday evening, April 17. Theguests of the Section were the Misses MabelMyers, Dicia Trobaugh and Grace Kenner.Several of the girls spent Friday evening, April23, at a fudge party with the Misses Myers,Trobaugh and Kenner as hostesses. All reporta very pleasant time.Three new members were initiated into theSection Friday evening, April 30, at 121 NorthSeventh street, with the Misses Sleetb, Groffand Cochran as hostesses.On May 4, the Section entertained MissErickson at 459 North Fifth street. All enjoyed the very helpful talk given by Miss Erickson and many of her suggestions are beingacted upon. Ice cream and cake were servedby the hostesses, the Misses Wood, Applegate,Whitcraft and Standiford.KAPPA.The Kappas were delightfully entertainedby the Misses Mamie Ritchie, Mabel Straughnand Catherine Kehrer at 454 N. Center street,April 26th. The color scheme of olive greenand crimson was appropriately carried out inthe artistic decorations. Several contests anda novel form of fortune telling were indulged induring the evening. Dainty refreshments wereserved and a delightful time was enjoyed by all.A theater party composed of Kappas wentto see John Drew in Jack Straw, April 22.An indoor picnic was given by the Kappasat the Y. W. C. A. house, April 24. Quite anelaborate luncheon was spread and all enjoyeda jolly time.
