194THE NORMAL ADVANCE.iftitfeiii&*After the disbanding of the track team, all athletic interest was centered on base ball. Althoughthe Normal had a team of capable men, it waspursued by a hoodoo whose subtle power couldnot be dispelled. Wet weather, accident, sickness, even smallpox, made inroads on the strength ofthe team so that in no game was its real ability inevidence. However, the boys deserve credit forthe spirit in which they worked and tried to uphold the pristine glory of the Normal. In the future wc will have the advantage ofhaving our own grounds for practice and for allkinds. of field athletics. The new park, rightlynamed Parsons Field, is an excellent place forOut door sports and wc hope that much will be accomplished by means of our acquisition.I. S. N. 10 M.
