full swing. Our men were hampered at first
by the bad weather and were compelled to
work in the gymnasium. Our first game was a practice game with
the Terre Haute team of the Central League.
Flint, a new man for Normal, was sent into
the box and pitched a splendid game for Nor¬
mal. Our men Avere batting well and when
during the game we were two points ahead our
crowd of rooters had visions of winning. But
professional work will tell and at the close
of the ninth inning the score stod 9-6 in favor
of Terre Haute. Our men now journeyed to Bloomington
to meet Indiana University. Crim pitched the
game and held the Bloomington men to a score
of 2 to 0.In the game with DePauw at Greencastle
our men were fighting to win, but luck was
against them and the final score stood 6 to 1
in favor of DePauw. Captain Clark was calledout of town just before this game and Holt
took his place behind the bat, and gained the
confidence of the men by his steady work. The next game on the schedule was with
Danville Normal at Danville. Here we were
again defeated. Our men seemed to be unable
to get together and the score at the end of the
game stood 6-1 for Danville. Our first home game was with Butler. Our
luck changed and for the first time during the
season we won. Bayh hit the ball for the first
home run of the season. The score was 10 to 4,
in favor of Normal. Our team was now strengthened by the addi¬
tion of Moore, a star pitcher of 1912. Our next
game, that with Franklin, at Franklin, we
lost by a score of 4 to 0.During this time Manager Hyndman of the
track and field squad has been working hard.
Although hampered by a lack of coaching,
Hyndman has hopes of developing a team that
will make a splendid showing for itself at the
state I. C. A. L. meet this year.Only persevere
be true, firm and loving

not too anxious about immediate usefulness to
others, that can only be a result of justice to
yourself.
