104THE NORMAL ADVANCEClass (^sanitationsCOLLEGE COURSE NOTES.During the latter part of last terrri the class
basket ball games were played. The first two—■
College vs. Sophomores and College vs. Juniors,
proved easy victories for the College men. The
final—College vs. Seniors—proved the big game
of the series. The Seniors had boasted loud and long about
the easy victory this game should afford them1 some even venturing to wager their Sunday even¬ ings rations of candies. But College superiority altered plans. Seniors anticipations fell with a crash, and as a result College men and their friends feasted gloriously at the wagers expense. This term begins with fine prospects for the College Course. There are over one hundred seventy College Course students in school now. The first meeting of the term was held Friday, January the ninth, and about fifty students were present. All officers were re-elected with the ex¬ ception of the class editor. Otho Shaw was elected to succeed Clare Goldman, who has withdrawn from school. From the report of the treasurer of the class it was learned that the financial condition of the class is prosperous. The social committee is pre¬ paring a great stunt for all College Course people and their friends. Keep your eyes and ears open find out the time and place of the affair and be there. The College Seniors have organized for the year. The officers are: President, E. J. Hemmer vice-president, William L. Connor secretary, Zelpha Burkett. The class promises to be thelargest in the history of the College Course. They have already selected their class pins and are prid¬ ing themselves in the display of the same.We still extend the challenge issued early in the school year to the other classes of the school to equal or excel the College Course spirit. At the time it seemed as if we were taking in too much territory, but no close competitor has as yet been recorded in the annals of the present school year.JUNIOR NOTES.The Juniors held a meeting in the music room at one oclock Thursday, January 8, and elected the following officers : President, Gertrude Force vice-president, Grace Golay secretary, Leatha Houchin treasurer, Miss Taylor. The meeting was entirelv suffragette.SOPHOMORE NOTES.The Sophomores had more social affairs last term than any other class and promise a better time this term.A meeting was held at 3 :30 Thursday, January 8, and the following officers elected: President, Sherman T. Sublette vice-president, Joe Swango treasurer, Hazel Chunn secretary, Ethel M. Ray. The social committee is composed of the follow¬ ing: Misses Ray, Cockran, Daphine, Chunn and Green, and Messrs. Ritz, Murduck, Cromwell and Hughey. Both the officers and the committee predict a good time for the coming term.To give pain is the tyranny, to make hap¬ py, the true empire of beauty.—Steele. |
