Description: STATE NORMAL SCHOOL.17The foregoing table shows the terms during which the study
of any given subject may be pursued by classes entering at the
beginning of any term in the year.It will be seen that classes entering at the opening of a Pall
term, may remain out and teach during the Fall term of the
third year, return at the beginning of the next term and com¬
plete the course by- the close of the year.Classes entering at the opening of the Winter term can
pursue the studies in the order indicated in the table, and thus
complete the course within eight consecutive terms from the
time of entering.Classes entering at the opening of the Spring term may
pursue the regular course for four terms, teach during the Pall
term, return for two terms more, teach a second Fall term,
return for the remaining two terms and graduate with a
regular class.These plans are suggested for each class as a whole, but it
will be observed that any student, entering at the beginning of
any term, who has done, satisfactorily, one or more terms work
may remain out and teach one or more terms at any time, and
returning, find a class doing the work for which he is prepared.By following this plan, energetic students can work their way
through the school. Such persons, when they have completed
the course, are not only prepared theoretically for responsible
positions, but they have had practical experience in organizing,
instructing and managing schools. The graduate of the Normal
School, who has had successful experience in teaching, is always
in demand.CONDITIONS O.F ADMISSION.Students, if females, must be sixteen years of age
if males,
eighteen. They must possess good moral character and average
intellectual abilities. If residents of Indiana, they must promise
to teach, if practicable, in the common schools of the State, a
period equal to twice that spent as pupils in the Normal School.They must pass a fair examination in Reading, Spelling,
Geography, and Arithmetic through Percentage. They must
