Tells Theodore Debs that John Haynes Holmes emphasized the way that Eugene V. Debs loved people, socialist and non-socialist alike. Says that Eugene V. Debs was hated because his love empowered the disinherited, an unpardonable sin under capitalism. Writes that John Haynes Holmes discussed Eugene V. Debs generosity. Mentions that John Haynes Holmes started to cry as he took his seat after the tribute. Says that she has been thinking of E. D. Morel all day long, who died 2 years ago. |
