Remarks that Kathlean Hotson said that she has mentioned him to Eugene V. Debs in her letters. Tells Eugene V. Debs that he has named his eldest son after him. Writes that he was born in the mining district of Wallaroo, Australia and spent 7 years in the gold fields of western Australia. Says that in 1908 he became a railway worker. Writes that he became politically active during the war, running for a seat on the Parliament in 1917. Tells Eugene V. Debs that he is now organizing for the Australian Workers Union--the One Big Union for Australian workers. Tells Eugene V. Debs that the vote of the Australian Labor Party has been declining since the war when the party called for Australia to pull out of it. Writes that he is against sabotage. |
