Progress report, July-October 1963, Mayors Biracial Committee

Description: Mayors Biracial Committee progress report of July - October 1963. South Bend mayor Frank J. Bruggner appointed a 34 member bi-racial committee on July 6, 1963 to examine the problem of discrimination in South Bend. This is the first report of the committee. It includes subcommittee reports that review the causes and patterns of discrimination in education, employment, housing and public accommodations. Included are 1960 South Bend census data, housing patterns by race, and employment statistics at the schools and government offices by race.
