Description: Watercolor by George Winter. Indian Burial (written in pencil, lower right). Inscribed, lower center: No 3 (in pencil); verso, lower center: Indian Burial Scene No 3 (in pencil); upper left: calculations, 6 feet 5 inches (in pencil). Group of standing Indians in wooded area, clustered around group of seated Indians, two log piles, and bier in cleared circle. Flag on pole at edge of cleared area. Circa 1837-1838.
