The Sugar Camp

Description: This painting depicts tapped maple trees, a sleigh transporting sap, and a cabin for storage. Snow-covered maple trees make up a large amount of the background. Each tree is has a lighter brown color mixed with a purples to create the bark. Most of the trees have a covered white bucket on the trunk to catch the sap. The storage cabin is surrounded by trees and is a similar color to the trees themselves. There is a vaulted area of the roof that has window in the center of the roof. Two people stand in front of the storage cabin, a man and a woman. The man is dressed in all black and has a black beard. The woman is dressed in a black coat, blue dress, and black head covering. There are light brown barrels scattered around the area. The sleigh transporting two barrels of sap is in the bottom of the painting. The sleigh is green, yellow, and brown in coloring and has four separate red runners underneath. The sleigh is drawn by two horses, one brown and one black. The man driving the sleigh is in all black with a blue scarf that flutters behind him. The title of the painting, The Sugar Camp, is in the center of the bottom of the painting in black. The date is in the bottom left corner in black. Schrocks signature is in the bottom right corner in black, somewhat smudged.
