Oscar and Minnie Johnson house at 1914 Ruckle Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1910

Description: A family stands in front of a two-story frame house. Postcard is addressed to Miss Leona Johnson / Indianapolis / 1914 Ruckle St. Torn Down and No Longer Standing are also written in later handwriting on the back. The card is not postmarked and has a AZO stamp block with 4 triangles pointing up (dating it to 1904-1918).City directories, census, and newspapers indicate that Oscar and Minnie Johnson, parents of the recipient Leona Johnson (later Estlick, 1895-1969), owned the house at 1914 Ruckle Street from at least 1907 until 1913. The baby is possibly the Johnsons youngest daughter Ruth who was born in 1907. It has two sets of house numbers, 1914 on the trim and 1910 on a porch post, since the city of Indianapolis tweaked the addresses to make them more consistent. This house was razed in about 1978 and as of 2020 a newer house is on the site.
