Indianapolis Zoo at Washington Park, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1970

Description: Postcard depicting the entrance to the Indianapolis Zoo at Washington Park. Text on the pack states the zoo opened in April 1964 at a cost of one million dollars. Some of the features included a 20-foot white plastic whale which housed an aquarium, farm and domestic animals, other animals, large and small, from far wawy, and a Japanese Garden with a pagoda. The zoo closed in 1987 after the completion of the new Indianapolis Zoo at White River State Park.
