Description: Painting in an oval frame of a young boy wearing a blue jacket. Written on the back: Meredith Nicholson / Born Crawfordsville, Ind. - December 9, 1866 / Died Indianapolis - December 22 [sic 21], 1947 / This is a portrait of Indiana author Meredith Nicholson, probably painted during his boyhood in Crawfordsville. It passed down to his daughter Elizabeth, to her daughter Virginia Fairbanks, and to her daughter Elizabeth N. Mann. Elizabeth Mann donated it to Indiana Humanities on November 1, 2017.
