Frank Krugs Grocery and house, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1909

Description: Unsent postcard of a man talking to a woman on the porch of a house attached to a store with an awning. The message from Emily [Krug] to her brother states: Last sunday morning Harry Maag and Charlie Grinslade were sitting on the porch across the street so while I was talking to the young gentleman whose picture you see in the above Harry took a snapshot of us and of these pictures that I send you Harry and Charlie like This one Best.Sanborn maps, city directories, and newspapers show that the Frank Krug operated a grocery store in this storefront and his family lived in the adjacent cottage. Emily Krug taught piano lessons in the home. The cottage to the left (1130 East 9th Street) has a small house behind it. Both the grocery and attached house were razed in the 1970s or 1980s.
